Hernando is our home office. Dr. Michael G. Lyons and Dr. Robert J. Wenzler treat heel pain and plantar fasciitis, bunions and hammertoes, diabetic foot problems and wounds, ingrown toenails, sports injuries, and foot and ankle surgery. Digital X-ray is on site and may be used during an evaluation when clinically appropriate.
Hernando is our home office, and a large share of our long-term diabetic foot and wound care patients live within a few miles of the square. Because we are local, Hernando patients can usually be seen the same week for a new ulcer, an infected toenail, or a sudden heel pain flare — and we can recheck a wound weekly without anyone driving across the state line.
We work closely with Hernando primary care offices and, when a foot infection needs more advanced treatment such as IV antibiotics, care coordination with Baptist Memorial Hospital–DeSoto can be arranged for imaging, vascular studies, or admission. Having that coordination already in place can make the process smoother for patients managing diabetes.
