Frequently asked questions

Should I go to the ER or call your office for an infected foot wound?

If you have a fever above 101°F, red streaks up the leg, severe swelling, confusion, or feel very unwell, go to the ER. Otherwise call 662-449-3663 — we can usually see infected foot wounds the same day.

How fast can a foot infection spread?

In patients with diabetes or poor circulation, a foot infection can spread to deep tissue or bone within 24–72 hours. Don't wait — call as soon as you notice spreading redness, increased drainage, or fever.

Will I need IV antibiotics?

Most early infections respond to oral antibiotics. Deep, bone, or rapidly spreading infections may require IV antibiotics and hospital admission.
