Diabetic Foot Care in Southaven, MS

Board-certified foot and ankle care from Michael G. Lyons, DPM and Robert Wenzler, DPM at our Southaven office — 928 Goodman Road East.

Most diabetic amputations begin as a small sore that healed slowly. Our Southaven office provides the preventive care that interrupts that pathway — regular diabetic foot exams, neuropathy and circulation testing, protective footwear, and aggressive treatment of any wound the moment it appears. We also perform advanced wound care and limb salvage surgery when a foot is already at risk.

  • Comprehensive diabetic foot exams, typically covered by Medicare
  • Neuropathy testing and circulation (arterial) assessment
  • Diabetic shoes and custom-molded insoles
  • Diabetic foot ulcer treatment, offloading, and advanced dressings
  • Infection management, toe amputation, and limb salvage when needed

Diabetic Foot Care in Southaven — common questions

How often should a diabetic have their feet checked?

At least once a year for everyone with diabetes, and every 2–3 months if you have neuropathy, poor circulation, a foot deformity, or any history of an ulcer.

Does Medicare cover diabetic shoes?

Medicare Part B covers one pair of therapeutic shoes and three pairs of inserts per calendar year for qualifying patients with diabetes. We handle the documentation with your prescribing physician.

When is a diabetic foot sore an emergency?

Call the same day for spreading redness, drainage, odor, fever, a black area, or a sore that exposes deeper tissue. Small delays are what turn treatable wounds into amputations.

Do you accept my insurance?

We accept most major insurance plans, including Medicare, and can usually see new patients within the same week.
